FOR SAAS FOUNDERS
TrendsFast for SaaS founders: find what your customers are stuck on
How a SaaS founder uses TrendsFast: the Reddit and X threads where customers describe problems, what is gaining attention in the niche, what competitors post and what buyers search, as evidence an agent can act on.
ANSWER FIRST
The short answer
TrendsFast tells your agent what the people you sell to are saying and searching right now: the Reddit and X threads where they describe a problem or ask for a tool, what is gaining attention in your niche and the ones next to it, what your competitors post and how it lands, and what buyers search. Every item comes with its link and the time it was seen, so you read the thread before you reply, write or build. It does not post or write for you.
Who this is for
Technical founders and small SaaS teams who can build, but have no one whose job is to watch the market. You need customers more than you need content volume, and you already suspect where they talk: a handful of subreddits, a corner of X, Hacker News, the issue tracker of a tool they use.
Checking those by hand costs an evening a week and still misses things. A generic list of what is trending on the internet is the opposite problem: it describes everyone, not your customers.
Five questions a founder asks, one call each
You describe your customers once: who they are, the communities they gather in, the competitors they compare you with. Each product is one call that collects those sources for you and ranks what it finds against that description.
| Product | The question | What it is for | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customers | What are my customers stuck on? | Find where your customers talk and what they’re stuck on, so you can answer them first and build what they ask for. | 10 |
| Trending | What’s trending in my niche, and next door? | Spot what’s gaining attention in your niche and the ones next to it, and turn it into content or features. | 25 |
| Competitors | What are my competitors doing? | See what your competitors post and which posts land, without checking every account yourself. | 30 |
| Formats | What videos work in my niche? | Learn which videos win attention in your niche, so your next one starts from evidence instead of a guess. | 20 |
| Search | What do people search for, and what do AI assistants answer? | Know what your customers search for, and whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity name you or your competitors when your buyers ask, so you write for the demand that exists. | 35 |
What your agent can do with the result
- Answer before anyone else does. A thread where someone asks for a tool like yours, with its link: your agent drafts a reply in your voice, and you read the community’s rules and post it yourself, or not.
- Build what is asked for. The same problem described in three subreddits and a GitHub issue is a roadmap input with sources, not a hunch.
- Write in your customers’ words. Landing copy, a post or an onboarding email can quote the phrasing people actually use.
- Watch competitors without opening their accounts. Their recent posts and how each performed, beside your own niche’s attention.
- Write for demand that exists. Search interest around your niche, and whether AI assistants name you or a competitor when your buyers ask.
A worked request: what are my customers stuck on?
Customers costs 10 credits and reads Reddit, X, Hacker News and GitHub. The call reads your confirmed brand context, collects your subreddits and X searches, and returns conversations where people like your customers describe a problem, ask a question or request something. Run it with a key from the dashboard:
CONTEXT_ID=$(curl -sS https://trendsfast.com/v3/trends/context \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TRENDSFAST_API_KEY" \
| python3 -c 'import json,sys; print(json.load(sys.stdin)["context"]["context_id"])')
REQUEST_ID=$(uuidgen 2>/dev/null || python3 -c 'import uuid; print(uuid.uuid4())')
curl -sS https://trendsfast.com/v3/trends/niche \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TRENDSFAST_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data-binary @- <<EOF
{
"request_id": "$REQUEST_ID",
"max_credits": 10,
"input": { "product": "customers", "context_id": "$CONTEXT_ID" }
}
EOFWhat comes back, abridged. This is an illustration, not live data: the field names are the API’s, the values are invented and the link does not resolve.

What it does not do
- It reads the communities and competitor accounts you confirm, not all of Reddit or X. Name up to five subreddits; the onboarding draft proposes some from your website.
- Each product call costs credits because it collects fresh. A source read in the last few hours is reused at no extra cost, and an empty result costs nothing.
- It never posts, replies or schedules. Whether a promotional reply is welcome is up to each community’s rules, which you should read before posting.
- Growth is claimed only when two comparable readings show it; a large number on one reading is popularity. Video is read from its metadata and opening transcript, not its frames.
- Search depends on third-party data providers. A Search call whose AI answers all fail costs nothing, and every result lists what it could not see.
When TrendsFast is not the right tool
If you need a social media scheduler, a content generator or a full listening suite with alerts across every network, this is not it. If you only want search interest for terms you already know, Google Trends is free. If your whole strategy is short-form video, a video intelligence tool goes deeper. TrendsFast is for the founder whose agent needs evidence about customers, with sources, before it acts.
