GUIDE · CLAUDE + TRENDSFAST
Turn Claude into your Head of Growth with TrendsFast
Connect TrendsFast to Claude, paste one set of instructions and ask one question every Monday: what to post this week, and where, from what your customers are stuck on and inside each community's rules.
ANSWER FIRST
The short answer
Give Claude three things: TrendsFast’s evidence through its MCP server, one set of instructions that describe your business and the job, and one question every Monday: “What should I post this week, and where?” Claude then reads the conversations where people like your customers describe a problem, groups them, quotes them with their links, and drafts one post shaped for the community it is going to, inside that community’s rules. It does not post for you, and it may not call anything trending that TrendsFast did not measure.
Write the job down first
A head of growth at a small company does one thing every week: decides where to show up and what to say, from what customers are actually stuck on. Written as a job, it is short enough for Claude to follow:
- Responsible for knowing where your customers talk this week and what they are stuck on.
- A good Monday reads this week’s conversations, groups them by problem, and picks one to answer with a post.
- Decides alone what fits your product and what does not, with one line of reason for each skip.
- Good work is a post a community welcomes: a story or an answer that helps without selling, with a link only where that community allows one.
1. Connect TrendsFast to Claude
Create an API key in the dashboard under MCP & API and set it as TRENDSFAST_API_KEY in your shell. With Claude Code, a folder of its own keeps the job separate from your other work:
mkdir head-of-growth && cd head-of-growth
claude mcp add --transport http trendsfast https://trendsfast.com/api/mcp/v3 \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $TRENDSFAST_API_KEY"
# then save the instructions below as CLAUDE.md in this folderThe Claude apps connect through a custom connector that signs in with your TrendsFast account. Where your MCP & API page offers that connector, add it there and skip the key; otherwise use Claude Code, which works with the key alone.
2. Paste the instructions
In the Claude app, create a Project called “Head of Growth” and paste these as its instructions; in Claude Code, save them as CLAUDE.md. Fill in the brackets with your own words: the more exactly they describe who you sell to, the better Claude can tell which conversations are about your customers.
I run [Your brand] ([your website]). We help [who you sell to] with [the problem they have], so they can [what they want to achieve].
You are my Head of Growth. Every week you tell me where my customers are talking, what they are stuck on and what I should post, then draft it with me. Work from TrendsFast evidence, never from memory: if TrendsFast has not shown it, say you don't know.
TrendsFast tools: read my saved context once with trendsfast_project_context, then call trendsfast_niche_trends with its context_id and one product. Each call shows its price before it runs.
- Customers (10 credits): conversations where people like my customers describe a problem or ask for something.
- Trending (25 credits): what is gaining attention in my niche and the niches next to it.
- Competitors (30 credits): what my competitors post and how each post performed.
- Formats (20 credits): the short videos that win attention in my niche, with their opening lines.
- Search (35 credits): what people search for, and whether AI assistants name us or our competitors.
Before paying for a call, reread this week's result with trendsfast_read_result: rereading is free.
My communities: r/[subreddit one] and r/[subreddit two]. Before drafting for one, read its rules and posting guidelines, and follow them to the letter.
Where self-promotion is not allowed, write as a member and never name [Your brand] unless someone asks. Put a link only where that community's rules allow one.
My competitors: [competitor one] and [competitor two].
When I ask what to post this week:
1. Run Customers. Group the conversations by the problem they describe, and rank the problems by how many threads share them, newest first.
2. Skip what doesn't fit [Your brand], with a one-line reason.
3. For each problem that fits: the community, the problem in the customer's own words (quote it, with the link), and how recent it is.
4. Draft one post for the best fit: a title and a first-person story that helps without selling, shaped like that community's top posts.
5. End with what the evidence does not show.
Never call something trending, viral or growing unless TrendsFast measured it (its signal and growth fields). If the evidence is thin, say so and suggest the next call. Two lines carry the weight. The routine starts from customers, not from whatever is popular, because a post that answers a problem people are describing this week is the one most likely to be welcomed. And Claude may not call anything trending, viral or growing unless TrendsFast measured it; a quiet week is reported as quiet.
3. Ask the Monday question
The first question is the routine; the others are for as and when you need them.
- Monday: What should I post this week, and where? Start from what my customers are stuck on.
- Customers: What are my customers stuck on right now? Quote them, with the thread links.
- Draft: Draft a story-first post for r/[subreddit one] about the top problem, within that community's rules.
- Early or late: Is this week's top trend still worth posting about, or am I late? Only call it growing if TrendsFast measured it.
- Competitors: What did [competitor one] post this month that landed, and what would my version be?
- Video: Which short videos win in my niche this week? Give me three opening lines to test.
What a good answer looks like
Illustrative, not real output: for a scheduling tool for dentists, a useful Monday answer reads something like this.
- Problem: last-minute cancellations. Four threads this week across two dental communities, the newest from yesterday, each quoted with its link.
- Skipped: a thread about dental-school exams, because it is not about running a practice.
- Draft: a first-person story about the week a practice lost three appointments and what it changed, with no product name, because that community’s rules do not allow self-promotion in posts.
- Not shown by the evidence: whether cancellations are rising; TrendsFast had no earlier week to compare with.
Know the community before you post
The same story lands in one subreddit and is removed in the next. Some communities allow a link in the post, some only in a comment, some only the product’s name, and some no promotion at all outside a weekly thread. The instructions tell Claude to read each community’s rules and posting guidelines before drafting, to put a link only where they allow one, and to write as a member where self-promotion is not allowed. Lead with the story; if the rules let a link follow, it follows the story, not the other way round. Timing an edit so moderators miss it is not a rule you can follow: it is the quickest way to lose the account.
To check one community’s rules by hand, use the Reddit promotion readiness checker.
What it costs
The Monday question runs one Customers call: 10 credits, which first collects your own communities and X searches. Add Trending (25 credits) when you want what is gaining attention as well. Every call shows its price before it runs, rereading a saved result is free, and a call that finds nothing is not charged. The 100 free credits cover about 2 months of Monday questions on Customers alone.
What this does not do
- It does not post, reply or schedule anything; you publish by hand.
- TrendsFast reads public posts: their titles, links and counts. Claude should open a thread before quoting more than its title.
- “Early or late” needs a measured comparison. Where TrendsFast has none, the honest answer is that it does not know yet.
- Community rules change. Read them again before a post that matters.
When this is not the right setup
- Your buyers do not discuss their problems in public: most enterprise purchases are researched in private, and a weekly scan of public threads will mostly come back quiet.
- You need short-form video research first: formats, sounds and creator tracking go deeper in a video-first tool; see the Virlo alternatives for where each one fits.
- You want posts published or scheduled for you: this routine drafts for your review, and a scheduler is a different tool.
- Nobody can spend half an hour a week reading the threads and editing the draft: the routine saves the searching, not the judgment.
