# TikTok slideshows for app marketing: what views actually turn into installs

Public founder numbers from November 2026 range from about 1 install per 1,100 slideshow views to about 1 per 3,000. In our reading, the gap usually comes from format and topic fit with the niche, not the hook alone.

TikTok slideshows are one of the cheapest ways to put an app in front of people, so many indie founders post them. View counts are easy to share. The number that matters is how many of those views turn into installs, and few founders publish it.

We collected the public numbers we could trace to the post that states them. TrendsFast is our product and it appears near the end; the numbers in the table are not ours.

## Views per install: the public numbers

Each number below is self-reported and unaudited, and the first is second-hand: one founder's summary of another's results. Each date links to the original post.

| Who | Reported | Views per install | Posted |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| @johnny_schae, reported by @Nick_5anchez | 201,000 views, 182 installs | About 1,100 | [3 November 2026](https://x.com/Nick_5anchez/status/2117617844095443059) |
| @GrownixApp, day 48 | Around 3,000 views for 1 install | About 3,000 | [3 November 2026](https://x.com/GrownixApp/status/2117598337230655906) |

Two data points are not a benchmark. They do show the size of the gap: for each install, one founder needed nearly three times the views of the other. The second founder calls that ratio terrible, and the first post's advice is to pick formats on installs and revenue instead of views.

## Why the gap? Our reading

This section is opinion. Nobody in the table measured it, and neither did we.

In our reading, a slideshow does two jobs with two parts of the post. Slide 1 stops the scroll, so it decides the views. The caption and the comments convert, because that is where a viewer learns what the app is and where to find it. A post can do the first job well and the second badly, and its view count will not show that.

The bigger cause, we think, is fit. A format that suits the niche reaches people who have the problem your app solves. A broad hook on the wrong format reaches people who never will. That is why we check format and topic before posting, not only the hook.

## The 5-minute pre-post format check

Do this before you make a slide. Decide first what counts as a hit, such as a post that clearly beats its account's usual views.

1. List 10 posts in your niche from the last 7 days.
2. Note the format of each: slideshow, short or talking head.
3. Note the hook type of each.
4. Pick the format with the best hit rate.
5. Write 3 hooks for one idea, with the app absent from slide 1.

Ten posts is a small sample, so treat the result as something to test, not as a finding.

## Doing the check with an agent

An agent can run the first four steps for you. A TrendsFast result counts each format it sees and how often that format's videos are strong hits. Here is one entry from one sample, a marketing niche read on 4 November 2026:

```json
{
  "format": "SHORT",
  "videos": 32,
  "accounts": 31,
  "scored": 14,
  "strong": 4,
  "strong_hit_rate": 0.286
}
```

Of 32 short videos from 31 accounts, 14 could be scored and 4 of those were strong hits. That is one sample of one niche on one day. It has no slideshow row, so it says nothing about slideshows; your niche may name different formats.

To run it yourself, this reads what is already in the index for a niche you describe. Replace the description with your own, and keep your key in the environment.

```sh
curl -X POST "https://trendsfast.com/v3/trends/niche" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TRENDSFAST_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"request_id":"<a-new-uuid>","max_credits":3,"input":{"niche":{"description":"A budgeting app for students"},"filters":{"platforms":["TIKTOK"],"content_types":["VIDEO"],"lookback_hours":168}}}'
```

It costs 3 credits, and nothing when it finds nothing.

## Slideshow makers and a format check do different jobs

A slideshow maker creates slides. A format check tells you which slides to create. You may want both. We do not list or rank makers here, because we have no data on them.

## FAQ

### Can you make money from TikTok slideshows?

Not through Creator Rewards if you post in Photo Mode: TikTok says eligible content [shouldn't be created using Photo Mode](https://www.tiktok.com/creator-academy/article/creator-rewards-program). The founders in the table earn from their app instead.

### Can I promote a slideshow on TikTok?

TikTok's paid tools are [Promote](https://ads.tiktok.com/resources/help/article/about-promote-on-tiktok?lang=en) and [Spark Ads](https://ads.tiktok.com/resources/help/article/spark-ads). Promote's help page names videos and LIVEs, and neither page says whether a Photo Mode post qualifies. We could not verify it, so check in the app first.

### How many views per install is good for an app?

The table holds the only public numbers we could trace: about 1,100 and about 3,000 views per install. Two posts are not a benchmark, so treat them as a rough range and track your own.

### Should I post from an app account or a personal account?

In our opinion, start with an account that reads like a person, because a slideshow works better as a story than as an ad. We have no measurement behind that, so test both if you can.

### How many slideshows should I post?

We have no sourced number, so we will not give one. Test one idea with three hooks, then make more of the version that brings installs, not just views.
